And it shall come to pass, IF thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all of his commandments which I command there this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth.
The word "IF" introduces a conditional clause on the condition or supposition that . . .
in the event that . . .
allowing that
on the assumption that
on condition that
Therefore, God admonishes us to do His commandments—all of them—so that we receive His blessings.
Deuteronomy 28:2 reads, "And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of God."
But . . .
"it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: (15)
What do you choose, family?
Blessings or cursings?
Obedience or disobedience?
IF you choose, you receive what thus saith the Lord.
